Who is the Organizational Change Management Plan template for?
This OCM plan template is for companies of all sizes and industries looking to manage changes within the organization and transition employees through effective communication, planning, and implementation. It provides a comprehensive framework to help you plan, monitor, and measure the success of any changes you make.
1. Define clear examples of your focus areas
When creating your OCM plan, the first step is to define your focus areas. Focus areas are the main topics or themes of your plan, and can include anything from communication and awareness to training and implementation. Each focus area should have a number of objectives and related actions.
2. Think about the objectives that could fall under that focus area
Objectives are the goals that you want to achieve as part of each focus area. Objectives should be specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-bound (SMART). Think about what you want to accomplish and what steps you'll need to take in order to achieve it.
Examples of some objectives for the focus area of Communication/Awareness could be: Increase employee awareness of changes, and Increase participation in change initiatives.
3. Set measurable targets (KPIs) to tackle the objective
Once you’ve identified your objectives, the next step is to set measurable targets, also known as Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). KPIs are the metrics used to measure progress towards the objectives. Each KPI should have an initial value, target value, and a unit of measurement (e.g. percentage).
An example of a KPI for the focus area of Communication/Awareness could be: Increase awareness of changes.
4. Implement related projects to achieve the KPIs
Once you’ve set your KPIs, you’ll need to implement related projects (actions) to achieve them. Projects should be actionable, measurable, and achievable. Make sure to include a timeline and any resources you’ll need in order to complete the project.
An example of a project related to Communication/Awareness could be: Establish a communication plan.
